Giorgos Theodosiadis
Born in Athens, 18th May 1924. He studied Finance and, as well as Theatre at the Drama School of “Theatro Technis”. He later continued his studies in London, in theatre directing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
His staged his first direction, of the play Living Room, in England, at the Guildhall Players playhouse, in 1954.
G. Theodosiadis, with his theatre directions, introduced the English drama to the Greek audience. He staged many plays for the first time in Greece.
He co-operated for many years, as member of the Artistic Board, both with the National Theatre (Athens) National Theatre of Northern Greece (Thessaloniki). He also worked as theatre director in both National theatres, as well as for the National Theatre of Cyprus. He participated as director and translator in Epidaurus’ Festival, Dodoni Festival etc.
In 1962 he inaugurated his own Drama School and in 1970 he premiered with Troupe ‘70, at KAVA playhouse, where he premiered John Steinbeck’s Of Men and Mice and James Saunders’ A scent of Flowers.
In 1975 he inaugurated “Arma Thespidos”, a theatre troupe that toured around Greece staging many and various theatre plays. In 1995, he took the direction of “Victoria” playhouse, where he staged, among others, Bent, Look Back in Anger, Dancing at Lughnasa etc.
